Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is this for adults?

Yes, absolutely! There will even be a few tables, games, and events labeled 18+

Is this for youth?

Yes, absolutely! Saturday ages 12+ is welcome and on Sunday all ages are! We do insist on ages 8+ for Sunday though as it will still be heavy on games and the smallest might get bored. There may also be some more mature content around the venue.

Are there special rates to stay at the hotel?

Yes! Just ring the Loughrea Hotel and tell them you’re coming for AthVentureCon and ask for the special rates.

Will there be food?

The hotel has a full bar & restaurant, and there will be a buffet lunch option on-site for AthVentureCon attendees. Loughrea town is just a few minutes up the road and has a wide variety of wonderful restaurants.

Can I leave the venue and come back?

Absolutely. Everyone will receive a wristband or lanyard when they check in. Just show this to the person at the font desk upon your return.

Can I play more than one TTRPG?

While we only guarantee one game per ticket per day, if there are seats available, then yes! Just check in with the committee member at the desk in the Games Hall and they will let you know.

Is it possible to pay at the door?

Only if there are still tickets available.

I’ve never played a table-top Role Playing game or anything like that before, is this still for me?

100%! This event is for everyone! If you have any interest at all in board games, Role Playing Games, collectable card games, cosplay, then yes! There will be plenty of games specifically for beginners and a plethora of volunteers and attendees that would love to help.

I wish to accompany someone with additional needs. Is there a carers ticket available?

AthVentureCon strives to be an accessible and enjoyable event for everyone. We offer one free ticket for the carer when visiting with the cared for person. We recommend pre-booking a ticket for the person with additional needs, this will ensure they can access the game sign-up form in advance of the event. The carers ticket will give admission to the event and has all the same features of an “NPC ticket” though will be applicable on Saturday and Sunday (see information above). The carers ticket does not require pre-booking, and can be secured upon arrival when presenting at the check in desk with the cared for person and the relevant documentation. Please ensure you have your Carer ID and/or relevant documentation to hand. This can be an ASIAM or IAA Autism ID card, FCI card or an associated membership card, GP letter or hospital consultant letter which confirms the visitor is unable to attend events independently, without a carer or mobility aid. If you require anything else to make your visit more comfortable, please email us in advance and we will do our best to help you if we can. Email info@athventurecon.ie

Is there a wheelchair accessible toilet?

Yes, there is a wheelchair accessible toilet at the hotel on the Ground Floor near the check-in desk. Please note, there are lifts to the 4th floor where the workshops and panels will be, but there is no wheelchair accessible toilet on the 4th floor.

Are there quiet areas?

The hotel bar, hotel reception, and 4th floor lobby area are generally quiet outside of peak times. If you need assistance in finding somewhere quiet please ask any of the volunteers in the Pink High Vis and we will direct you.
